ATI Street/Strip Converters weigh several pounds less than the factory L67/L32 torque converters - and this is mass rotating AT ENGINE SPEED. A lighter torque converter means much longer transmission life and significantly faster engine revving capabilities. These top of the line converters are made with 4340 alloy splines that are MIG welded for strength and durability. 4340 alloy splines are approximately twice as strong as other manufacturers and MIG welds that are virtually fail proof compared to the lazar welds from GM that most rebuilders retain for high performance use.. New accurately sized and roller burnished pump bushings are held to the bottom of the .0005"(5 ten thousandths) tolerance specified by GM. These converters are precision balanced on the same state of the art equipment used to balance the units for GM.
ATI manufactures all new converter parts in house, then CNC machines them 100% to ensure perfect parallelism of the internal parts, producing the most efficient units on the market. ATI is the only independent company in the world with the technology and equipment to build new converters. In fact, shops all over the world use ATI produced machines and technology to rebuild torque converters including over 100 companies in the United States. ATI is an authorized GM converter rebuilder and has rebuilt thousands of front wheel drive convertors and thousands of rear wheel units for BMW use. ATI has access to all GM drawings and tolerances that affect the quality of our torque converters. This means they are aware of issues that competitors are oblivious to including strict tolerances that are critical as horsepower increases. They have taken a look at converters we used to distribute and found many ways in which to improve the product. The ATI converters are stronger, longer lasting, and ultimately better for you the consumer.
The stall speed of these converters will be approximately 3,000 to 4,000 RPM depending on the power level and vehicle weight. We strongly recommend installing ARP flexplate bolts in conjunction with your new torque converter.
- ATI-TCS-3000 - stalls approximately 300 to 400 RPM higher than a typical L67/L32 FWD 258 mm. torque converter, which is approximately the same speed as a typical L36/L26 FWD 245 mm. torque converter

These converters have the lock-up clutch removed and are intended for race applications only. Several more pounds of rotating mass (at engine speed) are removed by eliminating the lock-up clutch. We recommend the use of our Race Turbine Shaft with these race torque converters.
