APPLICATIONS:
The reason for Manley’s overwhelming success is simple: QUALITY. Manley offers the best materials in the industry - exclusive materials Manley's competitors do not possess. Manley stems are hard coated with .0002" thick chrome rather than a few millionths of flash. Manley's hard tips are superior to competitor’s puddled stellite, which can crack and erode off the stem. Manley's valve head and underhead shapes have been in the forefront of the quest for improved flow since the late 1960’s. The Severe Duty series of valves is the Manley signature in the performance and racing industry. Chrome stems and hardened tips, as well as swirl polishing and full machining are all included with these valves.
These are not economy valves, and we don't even offer economy valves. These are Manley Severe Duty Generation II Valves, custom made of NK-844 Stainless (Intake Valves) and XH-428 Stainless (Exhaust Valves). These materials are not offered by any other valve manufacturer in the world. No pair of materials show such clear and demonstratable dominance over all others. Ultimate tensile strength of XH-428 at 1500º Fahrenheit is nearly double the imported copy cat’s EV-8. At 1000º Fahrenheit the Manley NK-844 displays more than four times the ultimate tensile strength of the competition's best material.
Further proof of the superiority of Manley Severe Duty valves is evident in Manley's comprehensive fatigue tests. In normal operation where valve float is non-existent, a valve will experience 20,000 to 25,000 lbs of stress. However, when valves bounce off the seat the stress immediately soars to 40,000 to 60,000 lbs. Manley exhaust valves (at 40,000 psi and 1,400º Fahrenheit) ran to 100,000,000 (one hundred million) cycles while competitors' offerings failed at 100,000 cycles. That's 1,000 times better fatigue life from Manley!
Diameter is .310 which is slightly smaller then the stock .313. For this reason we recommend replacing your valve guides when installing these. Overall valve length is the same as stock and the keeper groove is in the stock location.
