INTENSE Cams are manufactured from new 8660 billet camshaft blanks.
The Stage 1 Cam is an outstanding upgrade from the stock 3800 cam, providing a bit more power than a VS cam and playing nicely with stock heads and other components. 90# valve springs and LS retainers are recommended, but not required. This cam can also be paired with high ratio rockers now or in the future, and still fit within the 0.600" total lift max of a 3800 head (with suitable machining done in the build). Upping the effective power band by a few hundred RPM over stock, the Stage 1 gives hot street performance without sacrificing any torque, and does not require a PCM tune to run a 10 psi supercharger drive pulley with stock exhaust.
The Stage 1X Cam is the IDEAL aftermarket cam for use with stock heads, lifters, rocker arms, retainers, and pushrods. Aftermarket lifters, pushrods, and retainers are not necessary at this level, but there are certain reliability and performance gains to be had by replacing these items during your cam change. We always recommend and/or install 105# valvesprings with this camshaft. The powerband is strong from 2,600 to 6,600 RPM. With the supportive induction and exhaust mods in place, you should be able to run a 3.0" supercharger pulley with no intercooler when using this cam . Or, you could run a 3.25" supercharger pulley and increase your timing advance. The Stage 1X cam is designed to max out the stock cylinder heads, both in terms of air flow and also with regard to valvespring retainer to valve seal/guide clearance. Customers should check all necessary clearances especially if upgrading to aftermarket valve seals. The Stage 1X cam also works very well with a small shot of nitrous oxide (25-100 horsepower shots)
The Stage 2 Cam should NOT not be used with stock cylinder heads, but is ideal for use with modified heads and stronger valvesprings such as INTENSE Stage 2 L67/L32 Cylinder Heads or INTENSE Stage 3 CNC L67/L32 Cylinder Heads. We always recommend and/or install 105# or 130# valvesprings with this camshaft. The powerband is strongest from 2,800 to 6,800 RPM. With the supportive induction and exhaust mods in place, you should be able to run a 2.9" supercharger pulley with no intercooler, or a 2.6" supercharger pulley with an intercooler when using this cam on pump gas. You can also increase your ignition timing advance for even more power.
The Stage 3 Blower Cam is still streetable, and works best with a higher stall torque converter. It should NOT be used with stock cylinder heads and/or stock valvesprings. We always recommend and/or install 130# valvesprings with this camshaft. The Stage 3 Blower Cam is engineered for use with highly modified cylinder heads and oversized valves, and is a perfect match to the INTENSE Stage 3 CNC L67 Cylinder Heads. The powerband is strong from 3,000 to 7,000 RPM, with peak torque at 4,400 RPM and peak horsepower at 6,400 RPM. With an M90, you should be able to run a 2.8" supercharger pulley with no intercooler, or a 2.6" supercharger pulley with an intercooler when using this cam on pump gas.
The Stage 4 Blower Cam is the most wicked L67/L32 cam grind on the market today, and works best with a higher stall torque converter. This is the ultimate cam profile for larger or more efficient superchargers such as the MP112, twin-screws or centrifugals. It should NOT be used with stock cylinder heads and/or stock valvesprings. We always recommend and/or install 150# valvesprings at 1.800" installed height or 130# valvesprings at 1.750" installed height with this camshaft. It is engineered for use with highly modified cylinder heads and oversized valves, and works very well with our INTENSE Stage 3 CNC L67 Cylinder Heads. The powerband is incredibly strong from 3,500 to 7,500 RPM.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
- -We recommend that a new timing chain and timing chain tensioner be installed in conjunction with any new 3800 cam
- -We recommend GM LS7 Hydraulic Roller Lifters, High Load Valvesprings, and Valvespring Retainers with any aftermarket camshaft
- -We recommend INTENSE High-Performance Pushrods with any aftermarket camshaft
- -INTENSE Camshafts are micro-polished hydraulic roller design, so no break-in period is required
- -The Stage 1X, Stage 2, Stage 3, and Stage 4 Cams will set a P0300 random misfire S.E.S. light, therefore this code should be removed from the PCM with an INTENSE Powertrain Control Module or other custom PCM programming.
- -Higher WOT shift points (6,300 to 6,400 RPM) and rev limiter settings (6,500 RPM) will further increase the performance of the Stage 1X Cam. Stage 2 users will benefit with higher WOT shift points (6,500 to 6,800 RPM) and rev limiter settings (7,000 RPM). Stage 3 users will benefit with higher WOT shift points (6,700 to 7,000 RPM) and rev limiter settings (7,200 RPM). Stage 4 users will benefit with higher WOT shift points (7,000 to 7,400 RPM) and rev limiter settings (7,500 RPM).
