3800 Head Bolt Set

Set of sixteen torque-to-yield head bolts, factory level replacement for your original GM bolts. Should fit all 3800 series II/III engines from 1996-2008. Bolts have factory-applied thread lock and sealant compound.

Set is enough for two cylinder heads.

It is important to remember that the cylinder head bolts used on a 3800 should be replaced any time the heads are re-installed. The bolts are designed to permanently stretch when tightened. Not replacing the bolts may reduce clamping force and cause early head gasket failure.

To install new head bolts on a 3800:
-- Thoroughly clean the threads in the block, chasing with a 7/16-14 tap if needed
-- Install the new head gasket with the arrow pointing to the front of the engine (belt and pulley end)
-- Install the new cylinder head bolts dry
-- Tighten all bolts in sequence (see below) to 35-37 ft-lbs (49-50 Nm)
-- Then, following the below sequence, rotate each bolt an additional 130 degrees, using a torque angle tool if available.
