What can an INTENSE ECM & HP Tuners package do for you?
Since 2001, INTENSE has brought PCM/ECM Tuning to the late model GM FWD community. Now INTENSE offers our experience and tuning expertise to the Pontiac G8 community. Our INTENSE G8 ECM tunes are based on our knowledge gained from working on our INTENSE G8 Project Car which is evolving into a world-class super car. Air/Fuel adjustments along with ignition timing tweaks and the reduction of excessive torque management produce a realistic and repeatable 20-22 rwhp on 6.0L G8's using 93/94 octane*. Fan point changes in conjunction with a cooler thermostat help the cooling system keep the extra heat in check and we also enable the cooling fans to run at key-off under certain conditions. INTENSE tunes produce the hardest launching G8's and while you won't see these changes on the dyno, you'll definitely feel them the first time you leave hard from a stop. Instead of the relatively benign power produced off idle by your stock ECM, our optimized tune will plant you hard in your seat and give your tires a workout. With the addition of the HP Tuners Suite to this package our G8 customers now have the ability to not only update their TCM (Transmission Control Module) for various shift paraemter changes but they also now have the ability to log functions in real time for later tweaking, tuning and or diagnostics.

How hard is the INTENSE G8 ECM and HP Tuners package to install?When you order this package we ship you a standard HP Tuners VCM Suite. Once you have this installed on your laptop and read the binary out of your car you email us the binary to sales@intense-racing.com. We will then modify the binary with our code updates and email it back to you. Simply flash it into the car and you are all set.
What comes with the package?
Physical shipment includes the HPTuners MPVI 2 interface and a USB drive with VCM Editor and VCM Scanner software. Package also includes two license credits to allow connection to one G8 ECM. Additional credits can be purchased at a discount through us or at list price ($49.99 each) through HPTuners. Most vehicles need two credits to license. In addition to the HPTuners products, you will receive a custom edit of your downloaded vehicle file, custom tailored to your mods and preferences.
What do I need to do after installing a new INTENSE ECM?
Unlike our physical INTENSE G8 ECM offering no Crankshaft Relarn or Security Learn needs to be performed. Simply flash the binary into the car and enjoy.
What hardware and software will I need?
The HP Tuners software suite requires Windows 98SE/2000/XP or Better running on an 800MHz PC or Laptop with at least 256 MB of RAM. An email account is required to email us the binary.
How does your ECM Tune compare to other brands?
Notice in our before and after tune that the "after" air/fuel is almost textbook. WOT ignition timing is also optimized.
Some tuners only change a couple of settings. Here at INTENSE, we know GM tuning inside and out. Here is a partial list of the tables we change in our base G8 tunes. Some of these tables contain dozens of fields, so our typical G8 tune will have approximately 200 changes.
Will your ECM Tune affect my fuel economy?
Not directly, no. If you enjoy the performance gains, you're likely to drive the car harder, and this will reduce your fuel economy. But we don't change any light throttle parameters at all.
Why don't you make light throttle changes for fuel economy improvements?
We do not believe that we are smarter than G.M. powertrain engineers in this area.
Why are your ECM Tunes so much less expensive (43% in some cases!) than some other brands?
INTENSE has been a dyno tuning and mail order ECM leader for many years. We have ECM core vendors and channel partners already in place that allow us to offer products at a lower price than other startup companies.
Is there a core charge with this package?
No, because we are not shipping any computer hardware there is no core charge.
Do your G8 ECM Tunes include TCM (transmission) changes also?
YES! With the HP Tuners package we are able to modify your TCM code as well so you can enjoy our shifting and other transmission tweaks.
Do your offer HP Tuners software support?
Sorry we do not however HP Tuners offers terrific support for their product and is available at www.HPTuners.com

- Cooling fan run time (at key-off)
